The building of Masseria Magli dates back to 1710, the linear structure, the white color of its walls and the green of the surrounding nature are the typical elements of a masseria in Puglia. Located just 4 km far from Martina Franca, in a country estate of 16 hectares rich of olive trees and infinite varieties of Mediterranean plants and flowers.
Nature, art and tradition merged in the splendid scenery of Masseria Magli. Located in the heart of a country estate of sixteen hectares, the Masseria is immersed in the nature, among centuries-old olive trees and unique Mediterranean plants. Guests can admire a suggestive hilly landscape and relax with the uncontaminated perfume of the nature. A walk around fields and woods is one of the amazing experience that our guests can live with us.
The original landowner of the Masseria was the abbot Magli, philosopher, theologian and ancestor of the present landowners, the Aquaro family.
One of the most beautiful element of Masseria Magli is a little consecrated church, with a stone altar and a fresco depicting the deposition of Christ, a masterpiece of the eighteen century Puglia artist Domenico Carella.
The main activities of the Masseria were breeding, agriculture and pastoralism andwere carried out by the Massari – the farmers. They lived in an area of the farm that now, after the renovation, is a beautiful room where our guests can enjoy breakfast with typical local products or organize small events. In the past, the Masseria hosted also the shepherds, during the period of transhumance.
Today, Masseria Magli represents the perfect results of a careful restoration work completed respecting the old shapes and the original building materials. A unique Masseria where elegance, style and rural charm meet. Another unique element of the Masseria is the “Aia” – threshing floor – a surface of 250 sqm, dating back to 1600.
This large open space, was used for beating the wheat after the reaping, and to separate the wheat from the straw. Now is the perfect place to admire wonderful summer sunset while our guests enjoying wedding celebrations.
