THE MASSERIA
HISTORY
The original landowner of the masseria was the abbot Magli, philosopher, theologian and ancestor of the present landowner, Aquaro family.
A little church, at present consecrated, is situated in the masseria; inside the church there is a stone altar, a fresco depicting the deposition of Christ by an important artist Domenico Carella.
THE “MASSAI”
Some years ago the farmers lived a zone of the masseria while the landowners’ rooms were reserved to the vacation.
The masseria, where the prevailing activities were the breeding and the sheep farming, put up the shepherds during the period of the transumanza or those people who wanted to make the vacation in summer.
LA MASSERIA
Today Masseria Magli after a careful restoration work represents the right compromise among modernity, comfort, the elegance of the environments, even though it preserves its everlasting rural charm.
A particular characteristic of the masseria is the threshing floor with a surface of 250 mqs, dating back to 1600.
This enormous open space, was used for beating the wheat after the reaping, and to separate the wheat from the straw. Today it is possible, from here, to admire wonderful summer sunsets.
